Hooray!

It looks like Sue Bradford’s Bill to repeal or now change the wording of Section 59 of the Crimes Act is going to pass it’s final reading and become law. Kudos to the politicians who finally put the party line aside and worked to find a resolution rather than letting the Bill fail – better late than never.

What I have learnt from this is that Fairfax really are a bunch of creeps. Through every reading of this Bill there has been all sorts of vitriol in the media and now’s a great time to pull out an example: Fairfax (and I’m sure The NZ Herald) has had a heap of headlines referring to the Bill as beingantismacking” but now that it looks like it’s going to pass into law, some serious back pedalling looks to be starting with today’s headline referring to the Bill as “child discipline“. I guess that’s what happens when you think you have the power to push political agenda and fail. Creeps.
